I am interested in the tree braids. How do you care for them while they are in your hair? Do wash them every week and do you need a special shampoo and can you condition the hair. Also what type of hair would you recommend to purchase (human/syn)? How long can I keep the braids in? How do you take them out when you are ready?

Yes, you can do the tree braid on natural hair. I have natural hair too and I have done the braids on myself a couple of times. I have also done tree braids on a lot of my clients that have natural hair.

In fact I have a lot of clients who have natural hair and wear tree braids all the time. See exemplary pictures on my website under tree braids gallery (i.e. Tree Braids with wavy hair)

Your hair should be at least 3" long in order to be braided, and can be braided/cornrowed without extensions, but they do not last as long as when it braided with extensions.

Herbal shampoo, rinse and conditioning treatment should be used on your hair as it promotes growth and nurtures the hair and scalp.

Nonye,

I've been wearing my hair natural for a year and a half. It's just a short 'fro but I'd like to try braids, again. How long should my hair be before it can be braided? Is there a way to braid hair without using extensions? Are there any special products (shampoos, pomades, etc.) I should use on my hair until it is the right length for braiding? Finally, when is the next natural hair care seminar? Thanks for your help!
